The Face of AfriKa's aim is to celebrate Africa and its people by promoting a positive image of the continent. The objective is to highlight good initiatives, respect for human rights, sound governance and any positive enterprise initiated by Africans both in the continent and in the Diaspora. The Face of AfriKa blog Owner is a Congolese woman temporarily based in Europe, UK. Her challenge is to go back to Africa to assist building healthy local communities. She hopes to build on her accomplishments and work at the local level. Below are some thoughts that best represent the blog owner's vision of Africa:
"Africa challenges require visions to tackle. They don’t call for expert mourners who are skilled in scripting elegiac apologetics bewailing why we are so poor, passing the buck and begging the world to help out. No, Africa doesn’t need philosophers to rationalize her impregnable bunker of underdevelopment. It needs visionaries who could craft a vision of all-round progress, tap into the continents incredible natural wealth and engage its resilient people to birth a new continent." "The point of articulating why we shouldn’t dispense our energies in convincing the West that we are not as hopeless as they tell the world we are, is not a call to victory and cessation of effort, but to free time, so we can concentrate our effort some of which we expend in explaining ourselves to the world, into getting us on the track to where we need to be from where we are right now." Don't Quit:
When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.
